Work trip to Madagaskar!
Euroma, loyal to its policy with respect to getting insights in the supply chain, has travelled to Madagaskar to witness the whole production process of cloves.
The fields where the cloves grow, deep in the beautiful forest of Madagaskar, were visited. In the fields, Euroma witnessed the harvest practices as well as the first drying processes of the fresh cloves; a process crucial for the quality of the end product. Talks with the farmers were held too. Euroma was presented with the challenges the farmers face, the opportunities they have, and the impact of climate change on their daily work.
Euroma has also carried out audits on suppliers. The production processes of cloves were audited and assessed against the high standards Euroma sets with respect to quality and safety.
Euroma's colleagues Peter Fransen and Filippos Morali returned full of experiences and knowledge about Euroma’s raw material and its supply chain, but also about the political and social environment of Madagaskar. Next to the technical outcome of this visit, the Purchase Department of Euroma will investigate the ways to participate on projects that contribute to improving the lives of the Malagasy people.
